Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. This is due to the fact that the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for years. Clients from each of the surrounding states pile in vans and travel into Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) was introduced after a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. From that instance, twenty three of the 39 American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the betting rules, and today operate ten gambling halls of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were founded. automated games such as slot machines were not permitted, due to the fact that they are believed to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma rules has altered to permit gigantic Native gambling casinos. You’ll now find Native gambling halls with slot machine games, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not yet allowed in the Amerindian gambling halls yet, but this is just a matter of time. No one can say what having other gambling den games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
