Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. That’s because the Native bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for many years. Guests from each of the nearby states get in autos and travel into Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that instance, twenty three of the thirty nine Indian tribes of Oklahoma have introduced bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and at this time run 10 gambling halls of their own. Bingo is the game on which these gambling halls were founded. computerized games such as slots were not approved, due to the fact that they are thought to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma law have changed to permit massive Native gaming gambling halls. You will now find Indian gambling dens with slot machines, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are not yet authorized in the Native gambling dens yet, but this is simply a matter of time. No one can say what having other casino games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
