A lot has been talked in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the smoking ban in Britain. Conditions have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested massive aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. But will the internet version of this quintessential game provide a reprieve, or might it in no way compare to its land based peer?
Bingo is an established game normally played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game lately had experienced a recent comeback in popularity with younger men and women opting to hit the bingo halls instead of the bars on a Friday night. No longer will gamblers be allowed to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. The results of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo parlors. Profits have plummeted and the industry is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Of course they have not given up on this established game?
The answer is on the net. People realise that they can participate in bingo using their computer while enjoying a beer and cig and in the end, have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
Of course wagering on on the internet could never replace the communal portion of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of people the law has left a number of bingo enthusiasts with no alternative.
