Can the Anti Smoking Law in the UK Take Bingo Players On to the Internet? The Astonishing World of Web Bingo!
Feb 152024

Much has been talked in the press just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the anti smoking law in Britain. Conditions have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded massive aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. However does the net adaptation of this traditional game offer a reprieve, or will it never compare to its land based equivalent?

Bingo is an established game generally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game of late had witnessed a recent return in appeal with younger men and women opting to hit the bingo parlors rather than the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to be destroyed with the enforcement of the cigarette ban throughout UK.

No longer will enthusiasts be allowed to smoke whilst marking off their numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 all public locations will not be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most popular areas where folks enjoy smoking.

The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already illegal in the bingo halls. Players have dropped and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Certainly they have not deserted this ancient game?

The answer is on the internet. People realize that they can enjoy bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and cigarette and still enjoy big jackpots. This is a recent development and has timed itself almost perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course betting on on the web is unlikely to replace the collective part of going over to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of men and women the rules have left a good many bingo players with no option.
