A lot has been stated in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry being hit as a result of the cigarette ban in the UK. Things have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge tax breaks to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. However will the online version of this quintessential game present a salvation, or will it never compare to its land based equivalent?
Bingo has been an established game usually enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game lately had witnessed a recent comeback in appeal with younger men and women deciding to hit the bingo halls instead of the bars on a Saturday night. This is all about to change with the enacting of the anti cigarette law across Britain.
No more will gamblers be permitted to smoke at the same time marking off their numbers. The results of the anti smoking law can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlours. Numbers have plunged and the business is beyond a doubt struggling for its life. But where have all the players gone? Certainly they have not deserted this ancient game?
The answer is on the internet. People realize that they can bet on bingo using their computer while enjoying a beverage and smoke and in the end, have a chance at monstrous jackpots. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself almost perfectly with the ban on smoking.
Of course gambling on online could never replace the social part of going down to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the governing edicts have left many bingo enthusiasts with no alternative.
