Bingo and Oklahoma: 2 Peas in a Pod Dangers of Stress While Enjoying UK Bingo
Sep 232024

Much has been reported in the press recently about the bingo industry struggling because of the anti smoking law in England. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge tax cuts to help keep the businesses alive. However does the internet adaptation of this quintessential game offer a lifeline, or will it never compare to its land based opposite?

Bingo is an age old game generally played by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game of late had witnessed a recent comeback in popularity with younger men and women opting to visit the bingo parlors instead of the discos on a weekend. All this is about to be reversed with the enforcement of the anti cigarette law across UK.

No more will players be allowed to puff on cigarettes while marking numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public locations will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most popular areas where players enjoy smoking.

The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo halls. Profits have plummeted and the industry is absolutely fighting for its life. But where have the players gone? Obviously they haven’t deserted this established game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers know that they can enjoy bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beer and smoke and in the end, have a chance at huge prizes. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course betting on online is unlikely to replace the social portion of going over to the bingo parlour, but for a group of players the governing edicts have left many bingo enthusiasts with no choice.
