Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. This is because the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for decades. Patrons from each of the nearby states pile in cars and travel to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo on the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. From that time, 23 of the 39 Native tribes of Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the gambling restrictions, and today run 10 gambling halls of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were built on. Electronic games such as slot machine games weren’t approved, on the grounds that they’re thought to contribute to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts have changed to allow for large Native betting gambling dens.
