Could the Anti Cigarette Law in England Take Bingo Players On to the Web? Internet Casinos vs. Wagering on Bingo
Feb 232025

A lot has been reported in the press just a while ago concerning the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the smoking ban in England. Conditions have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge tax breaks to assist in keeping the businesses afloat. But will the net version of this quintessential game present a reprieve, or will it never compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo has been an established game usually played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had witnessed a recent return in appeal with younger people deciding to hit the bingo parlors rather than the discos on a weekend. This is all about to be reversed with the enforcement of the anti smoking law throughout Britain.

Players will no longer be permitted to smoke while dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 all public places will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most common areas where people like to puff on cigarettes.

The outcome of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo parlors. Profits have plunged and the industry is literally fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Obviously they haven’t forgotten this ancient game?

The answer is on the net. People realize that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and cigarette and still enjoy monstrous prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course playing on the web can never replace the collective aspect of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the rules have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with little choice.
